Washington: The Iowa-based institutions of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi have confirmed that at least 130 Indian “Vedic Pandits” have missed in recent years after arriving in the U.S.
The intention of their arrival was to perform programs regarding religious learning.
Meanwhile, officials of one of the institutions described media men about the ill-treatments on the Pandits
In an email to The Hindu, William Goldstein, Dean of Global Development and General Counsel to the Maharishi University of Management, based in Fairfield, Iowa, said that the Global Country of World Peace (GCWP) is the U.S. organization which sponsors the R-1 visa of Pandits’ and their stay in the country. But they had not received any information from the scholars before they went. It may be due to the misinformation received by them about the financial opportunities and the flexibility of legal matters. Their main intention would be to generate more money for their families. There could be an organized racket for brokering the operation regarding the transportation of Pandits
