New Delhi: About 2,200 Indians are expected to arrive home from the riot hit southern Iraq by this week. The Indian emigrants in Iraq have expressed their desire to leave for their home and they will be arriving in India within two or three days. 200 people were already reached New Delhi last day.
According to external affairs ministry spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin, the process of evacuating Indian nationals from Iraq is mainly focused on the non conflict zone in southern Iraq.
Four mobile teams comprising of six persons each have been placed in Najaf, Karbala and Basra in addition to Baghdad for collecting details of those who would like to leave for their home.
Based on their report, overall 2,200 Indian nationals have expressed their desire to leave Iraq. Government of India is ready to provide them all needful assistances.
