United Kingdom: A devoted pet owner is said to have spent £300 to save the life of his goldfish which had been suffering from acute constipation .
The man took the fish to veterinarians to ease its discomfort after noticing that it was struggling severely.
He was made understood by the hospital authorities that a simple surgery can bring the fish back to its happily swimming condition in the office tank.
But the company boss was shocked when he came to know that the cost of the surgery would be £300.
He turned down the treatment first and left his fish to its fate.
He had a change of mind within 10 minutes and went back to give the fish the proposed surgery .
Veterinarian Faye Bethell, aged 29, performed the surgery by carefully administering anesthetic since he had to use tiny instruments to remove a lump close to the fish’s anus.
A second lump was removed from its dorsal fin before the same was returned to water and handed back to his grateful owner.
The vet said that the three inch fish has made a full recovery after the 50-minutes long operation.
According to him, it would have been died if it was left untreated.
