New Delhi: Armed forces of India warned government against the consequences which may arise due to the delay in the replacement of aged war equipments. India’s three armed service chiefs have asked the government to accelerate the procurement of sophisticated arms. They have pointed out the miserable condition of Air Force’s combat jet fleet and the shortage of modernized tanks and artillery to army.
These warnings were on the basis of the resignation of Naval Chief Admiral D.K. Joshi, who resigned following the explosion on the submarine, INS Sindhuratna. This was one of the several submarines forced to serve beyond its life span. The submarine accident was the outcome of the delay in the procurement and modernization of the naval force.
