Srinagar: One Indian soldier from Maratha Light Infantry is said to have killed while two sustained injuries during the ceasefire violation of Pakistan along the LOC.
The unfortunate incident was in the form of an ambush along the LOC in Akhnoor sector of Jammu.
Official sources said that Sepoy Bikhale of 2-Maratha Light Infantry died on the spot when the patrolling party was attacked from the nearby bushes by an explosion followed by gun firing. The Indian soldiers met the situation with a quick response.
It was not known whether the retaliation had caused any damage to the other side or not.
After the firing brought under control, the injured soldiers, head constable Vinod Kumar and Lance Naik Amol Kumar were evacuated and airlifted to a military hospital at the Northern Command headquarters of Udhampur.
Some Army officials explained that the ceasefire violation of Pakistani troops were to assist the infiltration of terrorists into Indian territory.
They said that a similar attempt of infiltration was thwarted by the Indian Army in Bhimber Gali sector of Poonch district. According to them this was the fourth such incident within the last few days.
Fortunately, no casualties had occurred in the first three strikes.
