Central ministry could not bring anti-corrupt

New Delhi: The central government was unable to launch the anti-corruption ordinance since they could not convince President Pranab Mukherjee, regarding the reliability of the proposed ordinance. The Union Cabinet which convened a special meeting chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, was failed to take a decision regarding the implementation of the ordinance on anti-corruption bills.

Before the special Cabinet meeting, senior members of the Manmohan Singh ministry had held several rounds of discussion with the President to make him aware about the urgency of bringing ordinances for the pending bills. But President had not given any positive signals during his meetings with law minister Kapil Sibal and home minister Sushilkumar Shinde.

It is the interest of Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi to bring these ordinances before the forthcoming Parliament election. Earlier, the ministry had failed to bring these ordinances at the end of the recently concluded Parliament session.
