China decides to give up compulsory family pl

China has decided to come down from their compulsory family planning scheme. As per the earlier rules one family can give birth to one child only. Now the government is proposing to amend these rules. The proposed amendment has been included as the main agenda for the standing committee meeting where all constitutional amendments are discussed. As per the new rule, a family having only one son or daughter can give birth to one more child.

Recently, the Government of China has come to know that the existing family planning would affect the economic growth and population in the country. Moreover, by the current family planning program, the numbers of aged are found increased while the numbers of young workers decreased considerably. It was in 1970 that China enforced compulsory family planning scheme with an intention to control overpopulation.
