Beijing: China has planned to remove six million vehicles which do not meet the prescribed exhaust emission standards.
The new order will come into effect by the end of the year as a way of improving air quality.
Following the order, more than 300,000 vehicles are to be decommissioned in the capital city of China.
As per the recent findings by the agency of the state’s environment, about 31% of the air pollution in Beijing comes from exhaust fumes emitting from the vehicles.
In the coming year, the government has planned to destroy up to five million vehicles from other regions.
The action plan is aimed to strengthen the control over vehicle emissions.
