New Delhi: The existing Delhi Metro Line, from Jahangirpuri to Huda City Center, will be extending up to Manesar in Gurgaon.
The detailed project report (DPR) for the extension will be ready in another six months.
Once the DPR is ready, the Haryana government will approach the Center for the project approval.
The proposed stretch will be over 30 km long.
It will run alongside the northern as well as the southern peripheral roads, which come around the length of 16 and 10 km respectively.
A senior official of the Haryana government said that they were given the task of preparing the DPR to a US-based Aecom, the leading consultant firms in the field of structural engineering.
The company was given a deadline of 11 months in which six months are already over.
If the matters regarding the same are moving as scheduled, they would approach the Central government for approval of the project.
According to officials, the extension is part of the Mass Rapid Transport System connecting Gurgaon, Manesar, Bawal, Rewari and Neemran.
This is an “early bird project” of the Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation, in the Manesar-Bawal investment region of Haryana.
According to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) officials, the Haryana government had asked them about a year ago to prepare the DPR for the metro rail extension. But, the request was ignored later without any official explanation.
