Cairo: General Abdul Fattah el-Sisi has been asked by the senior leaders of the Egyptian military to become the president of the country.
General Sisi was the military officer who expelled Egypt’s first elected president last summer. After that he has been serving as defence minister of Egypt. Now he has been promoted himself as field marshal.
The government established by Gen. Sisi last summer had made the Muslim Brotherhood organization inactive which was considered as the largest opposition.
He had also bundled out other rebels in the country. In the referendum, more than 98 percent of the votes were in favor of Gen. Sisi.
This is considered as an approval of his leadership.
