New Delhi: India Government has decided to allow the import of human fetus to boost the artificial reproductive treatment.
The new decision will allow foreign couples to bring in frozen human embryos and rent a substitute womb from India for the baby to be born. The relaxation of such rules can also be applied to other infertility treatment like IVF. To ensure quality control, a no-objection certificate from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) is also to be produced along with the imported embryo.
The new rule is applicable not only for foreign nationals but also for Indian couples settled abroad who want infertility treatments or surrogate wombs from India. This was not permitted earlier but the new guidelines have eased the process and cleared obstacles regarding their import.
India is a globally reliable healthcare center where inexpensive and qualitative medical care is available. That is why large percentage of foreign patients arrive to India for the treatments related to fertility.
