Sanfrancisco: It is reported that Google has decided to shut down its Orkut Social networking site. Orkut is said to be the first Social networking venture from Google. The new decision is to enable them to focus on YouTube, Blogger, and Google+ services that have proven more popular than Orkut.
The California technology titan will pull-off the plug from the 10-year-old Orkut by the end of September.
Google engineering director Paul Golgher told in a blog post that during the past ten years the use of YouTube, Blogger and Google+ has increased greatly and at the same time the cultural developments among communities have reduced the use of Orkut considerably. This is the reason as to why Google has decided to say Good Bye to Orkut.
Orkut was particularly popular in Brazil, where two years ago it was eclipsed by the other social networking giant Facebook.
Google which launched its Google+ social network in 2011 has been slowly weaving into other reliable services.
