Guruvayoor: The ten day Guruvayoor Sree Krishna Temple Festival commenced with elephant race. The spectacular event which is used to conduct prior to the temple festival is very famous.

All the 27 elephants belonging to the Guruvayoor temple were participated in the race event. There were barricades on either side of the roads to enable thousands of elephant lovers to witness the race comfortably.

The temple authorities had made elaborate security arrangements for conducting the ceremony faultlessly. A crisis management team comprising of police and doctors, were also kept ready to manage any unforeseen incidents.

Musical instruments were played loudly to encourage the event.
