The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) and Cathay Pacific have decided to organize the International Chinese New Year Night Parade 2014 in Tsim Sha Tsui. This parade will take place on the first evening of the New Year which falls on January 31, 2014. The ‘New Year Party @ World City’ will be conducting with a variety of featured programs related to horses. Hence their forthcoming New Year will be observed as the ‘Year of the Horse’.

The stage of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre will become a ‘circus’ venue to welcome 34 festive floats and performing troupes from 15 countries as well as regions. The Hong Kong “King” and “Queen” of clowns will also make a special appearance to entertain viewers.

The 10 international performing troupes are the center of attraction of this year’s night parade. They include Starlight Alchemy from Singapore who exhibit spectacular fire play, Korean Taekwondo Association, Pride Dance team from Australia who will be kicking and dancing, Bicycle Show Bank from Netherlands, Toys from France who will perform stunts on bikes and stilts, LUXe from Ireland and Journey to the Caribbean from Trinidad, St Lucia and Barbados.  All of them will be dressed in gaudy costumes in such a way to add color and gaiety to the night parade and make it absolutely mesmerizing.

Thirteen floats will also join the procession from the circus locations at Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza. In addition, 11 local groups will also display their performances with magic tricks, Korean pop dance and hip-hop dance.

John Slosar the chief executive of Cathay Pacific Airways, the title sponsor of the night parade said that the International Chinese New Year Night Parade will be an event that highlights every great thing about Hong Kong. According to him it’s a pulsating, colorful and fun-filled entertainment which makes the celebrations of the Lunar New Year an ever memorable one.
