New Delhi: The wedding of 22-year-old Anuj Lohia, a resident of Aya Nagar village near Mehrauli in Delhi is on May 7th, the day scheduled for the polling in Uttarkhand. But, the restrictions imposed on the movement of people in groups and vehicles on polling days create serious obstacles for the smooth functioning of the marriage ceremony.
The police officials in Delhi as well as Uttarakhand have refused to give permission for the wedding procession and the family members entering in to the state in groups.
All border points will be sealed as per the Section 144, which insists a ban on assembly. This makes the entire wedding party in trouble if they have to travel together.
Meanwhile, Uttarakhand has decided no to allow any outside vehicles on this particular day so that all such vehicles will be compulsorily stopped at the border. At the same time people are not allowed to carry money and gold while polling is due. But as far as a marriage party is concerned they cannot avoid carrying money and gold with them.
Delhi police officials claimed that they would be doing their best to help the family regarding this marriage. They said that they would consider this marriage ceremony as a peculiar case while considering the elections as very sensitive. They have planned to screen each and every family member including the items carrying by them. Any way, Lohia’s family members have determined to go ahead with its ceremonial journey even though there are issues. According to them, May 7th is the best time to conduct the marriage, since such a day cannot be seen within the time frame of next six months.
