New Delhi: Indians celebrated Holli, the festival of colors in the midst of their election fever. By taking a break from politics and elections, even political leaders were also joined the people to commemorate the colorful festival of the nation.
President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh greeted people by saying that Holy is an unique occasion to strengthen the bonds of unity and friendship.
Dr. Singh said in a message said that the festival indicates the beginning of spring and celebrates irrespective of religion and culture. This is a highly exceptional occasion to rejoice under the glory of nature with all its vibrant colors. Dr. Singh celebrated the festival with his staff for the first time during his tenure as the Prime Minister of India .
Congress president Sonia Gandhi celebrated Holli at her residence. She greeted her party cadres with colors and distributed sweets. Senior BJP leader L.K. Advani, party president Rajnath Singh and spokesperson Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi were also celebrated the festival with party workers and their family members.
