Leh: Great measures are being taken to conduct the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections at Ladakh, the highest polling station in India which has been scheduled for May 7. Polling parties and election materials are dispatched through air to six remote polling stations in Leh district of Jammu and Kashmir. The six locations where polling to be conducted in Ladakh are Lingshet, Skumpata, Dipling, Hunkar, Markha and Rumbag. Staff along with election material for Lingshet, Skumpata and Dipling polling stations have been airlifted by helicopter while the polling officials for Hunker, Markha and Rumbag polling stations have to trek to reach their respective destination along with the poll materials. The voting officials and equipments for Yulchung and Nyraks polling stations would also be airlifted. These polling stations have been set up at such inaccessible places for enabling the overall 90 voters of the locality to exercise their franchise. Here, there are four contestants in the fray, one each from the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party while the remaining two are independents.
