New Delhi: Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav by opposing capital punishment for rape, said that boys would be boys and they might commit mistakes.
He made these comments while addressing a rally in Moradabad. According to him it would be girls who develop friendship with boys and when differences arises they allege the boys with rape charges.
Mulayam said that his government would try to change such anti-rape laws and punish girls who bring false allegations against innocent boys. He was referring to the Mumbai Shakti Mills rape case where accused have been sentenced to be hanged.
Earlier too, Mulayam had criticized the amended anti-rape laws in the country. In the poll manifesto, the Samajwadi Party has promised to control the misuse of the anti-rape law. The manifesto mentions that the Samajwadi Party MPs had voiced their concern about its possible misuse.
Mulayam said that it would be unfortunate if Modi becomes PM as he could not protect women during the 2002 riots.
