Washington: NASA has confirmed the existence of 715 newly discovered planets outside the solar system. So the galaxy of the universe is going to be more crowded and interesting.
Douglas Hudgins, NASA’s planet exploration program scientist referred the discovery of new planets as a major step toward the planet-hunting device, the Kepler telescope’s ultimate success.
According to the NASA sources, the discovery highlights the possibility of life elsewhere in any of those planets.
Lisa Kaltenegger, a Harvard and Max Planck Institute astronomer described this effort as a key step to find out a planet similar to earth’s environments.
By using the Kepler telescope the scientists have brought the number of planets discovered in the galaxy to about 1,700. Twenty years ago, astronomers could not find out any such planets which circle stars other than the planets in the current solar system.
