Islamabad: In a very strange incident, two Pakistani sisters withdrew Rs 17 lakh from their account and burnt the same in front of the bank itself. Naheed, 40, and Rubina, 35, of Jhelum’s Bilal Town area in Panjab Province visited National Bank of Pakistan’s Chak Nasa branch three days ago to withdraw Rs 1.7 million from their deposited amount. Due to certain practical difficulties, the bank manager told the sisters that their request for the money withdrawal could not be considered immediately. So, they visited the bank again on Thursday and asked the manager to give them the money. During noon the sisters were handed over the money and they took the same to outside the bank from where they were burnt. An eyewitness told police that when a shopkeeper and a passer-by prevented the sisters from doing so, the elder one threatened them with a pistol and said they have full authority to do whatever they wanted. So, the people gathered around them could only view the currencies transforming to ashes. While everything was over, Police arrived at the sight and collected the ashes of currencies. It is said that the women had deposited Rs 28 lakh in their account about a year ago after selling the property they had inherited from their father Raja Muhammad Iqbal who was found dead in an inexplicable circumstances about a couple of years ago. The police sources said that the sisters are still unmarried and reside separately from their two younger brothers. According to their neighbors all of them are suffering from mental ailments.
