New Delhi: The central Ministry has decided to ban areca nut. According to them the consumption of areca nut is injurious to health. They have asked the security authorities of food products to verify the various health problems caused by the consumption of areca nut products.  They have also asked the authorities to include areca nuts among harmful items and recommended to prohibit the same adding with other edible products. So, there may be a decision from the side of the security authorities of food very recently.

There are also proposals to bring orders to prohibit tobacco and nicotine from adding with food materials. If areca nut is prohibited by fresh orders, it will inversely affect the farmers who have been cultivating areca nut. It is a well known fact that 70 percent of the areca nuts in India are cultivating from Kerala. So, if the new order comes in to force, the export business of areca nut in the state will be in trouble.
