Melbourne: Facebook users who do not get immediate feedback on the social networking site suffer from lower self-esteem, lack of belonging and general despair.
This is an information from the researchers of Melbourne.
Their research work was on how social media websites can be defined socially and the influence of the same on personal welfare. With respect to the research they have concluded that active participation on Facebook is important in producing a sense of belonging among social media users while a lack of social participation on Facebook leads people to have the feeling of less meaningful.
The research work published in the journal ‘Social Influence’ points at how Facebook communication impacts on feelings of social belonging which in turn affects outlook on life, loneliness and self-esteem.
