Srinagar: Bollywood actors Shahid Kapoor and Irrfan were attacked with a fire pot while acting for Vishal Bharadwaj’s ‘Haider’ in Kashmir. As per the reports, the fire pot (Kangri) was thrown by a youth among the crowd on the actors. However, the police intervened accordingly and controlled the crowd to finish up the shooting smoothly.
A source at the location said that during the shooting both Shahid Kapoor and Irrfan were moving towards a car. Suddenly somebody from crowd threw a Kangri (fire pot) towards them which hit Irrfan while the spiraling ash in the air touched Shahid Kapoor as well.
According to one of the crew members the incident was taken place while they were shooting for a kidnapping sequence in the movie. The spectators were fleeing from the location immediately after the incident.
The cast and crew of ‘Haider’ returned to the Kashmir valley on January 27 to complete the last phase of the shooting. They will be in that location for 20-25 days. The line producer for the film Khawar Jamsheed said that most of the filming would be carried out in Srinagar.
Last year, the crew had to pack up from the shooting venue while they were filming at Kashmir University campus. The students in hostels of the University campus had objected the hoisting of the national flag on a temporarily created bunker. The rest of the shooting were completed peacefully.
In the meantime, Bhardwaj assured the people of Kashmir that ‘Haider’ would be a real representation of the grievances of the people who have experienced the past two decades. ‘Haider’ is a Kashmir based version of Shakespearean tragedy Hamlet.
