Smart phone theft doubles yearly in US

Washington: In United States about 4.5 million smart-phones are found to have lost or stolen during last year. It was 2.8 million in the year 2012. The annual survey by the Consumer Reports found that the thefts were largely responsible for the increase in devices that were permanently separated from their owners. As per the survey reports, the number of stolen devices are doubled from 1.6 million in 2012 to 3.1 million in 2013. The number of lost devices increased from 1.2 million in 2012 to 1.4 million in 2013. More than 3,100 adults in the US were participated in the Consumer Reports survey for enabling to calculate these figures. According to the report a vast majority of smart-phone owners (about 34 per cent) were reluctant to take more aggressive measures, such as creating longer pass-codes and installing software that could locate their phone or remotely erase its contents. Consumer Reports recommends to set up a four digit lock code for the smart-phones.
