Kabul (Afghanistan): Suicide bombers destroyed dozens of trucks loaded with fuel and military hardware destined for NATO troops in Afghanistan.
The unfortunate incident was during the early hours of Thursday.
The 37 trucks belonging to logistics companies were set on fire by the extremists.
They were three militants, armed with machine guns and rocket-propelled grenade launchers.
They entered in to the parking site in Torkham located on the Afghan side of the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
One senior military source revealed NBC News regarding the condition of anonymity.
Two of the three bombers were shot dead by Afghan and U.S. forces whose base is next to the parking lot.
According to the military source, there were no security forces casualties in-spite of the injuries of two guards.
Torkham is the main resupply route for thousands of foreign soldiers in Afghanistan.
Nangarhar provincial police spokesperson Col. Hazrat Hussain Mashreqiwal said that a number of guards were injured by the incident.
According to NATO spokesman, the Afghan and foreign forces had sealed the site for further investigation and none of its troops were either injured or killed since the base perimeter had not been effected by the attack.
