Kabul: It has been reported that Taliban militants have attacked the headquarters of the Afghan Election Commission located in Kabul., This is the latest series of attacks taken place across the capital of Afghanistan. Taliban militants were climbed onto a roof to shoot rockets into the well protected compound of the Independent Election Commission.
Election officials took refuge in special safe rooms in the building, specially built to withstand such attacks.
The sound of the fighting echoed in the streets of Kabul and the Taliban quickly took responsibility for the assault. In the encounter, five militants were killed. The assault, which took place not far from the airport, forced one plane arriving from western Afghanistan to turn back.
