New Delhi: Three men have confessed in Saudi Arabian court that they have buried alive five Asian men who are suspected to be Indians. The incident was on a farm in an eastern province of the kingdom of Saudi Arabia about four years ago. The crime which was committed in 2010, came to be known as skeletons were recovered during a farm digging. According to Arab News in the English language, 25 people have been arrested in connection with the killings that taken place at Qatif four years ago. Three of the suspects have confessed in the court that they had tortured the workers for hours before burying them alive.
As per the media reports, the suspects include both Saudi nationals and expatriates. Government sources in New Delhi said that the same could not be confirmed immediately whether the victims were Indians. When the matter was reported in the local media, the Indian deputy chief of mission in Riyadh, Sibi George, met the local police chief for verifying the identities of the victims. According to the authorities it cannot be easy to say that they are Indians because the local police have not confirmed their identities yet in writing. They have told the embassy officials that they would conduct DNA tests on the body remains.
