New Delhi: Defense ministry of India has decided to appoint Vice admiral Dhawan as the new Chief of the Indian Navy. This has been forwarded for the consideration of the central Government panel for the appointment of officials at important positions. Currently the senior most official in Indian Navy is Vice Admiral Sekhar Sinha who has been holding the position as Chief of the Western Naval Command. Vice Admiral Dhawan is the second senior Official of the Indian Navy. So the new appointment is by overlooking the seniority list of naval officials. Generally, during the appointment of Chiefs of armed forces, the seniority of the officials is highly prioritized. The Chief of the Naval Staff position in India had been vacant for the last two months. Previous Naval Chief Admiral D.K. Jhoshi was resigned about two months back following the mishap of a Naval war ship INS Sindhuratna.
