Bangladesh:three people killed in political violence

At least three persons were killed  in Bangladesh as the Bangladesh National Party (BNP) enforced a 48-hour nationwide blockade demanding postponement of general elections on January 5 . Their workers detonated scores of homemade bombs and removed railway tracks to disrupt train services.The Election Commission announced  that elections would be held on January 5. The BNP wanted to postpone the announcement until after an agreement had been reached to transfer power  from  Sheikh Hasina government to a neutral caretaker government to oversee polls.Police fired rubber bullets and tear gas at protesters in the cities of Rajshahi and Khulna, a local media reported.
