Railway management has decided to convert all the Duronto express trains to superfast trains by giving them certain profitable stops. Duronto express trains which run between two major cities have no stops in the middle of the journey. Moreover, the passengers in these trains are considerably less and found not profitable. The transformation of these trains is carrying out on the basis of this survey. According to the railway sources these trains can be made profitable by giving them stops at important stations. Duronto express trains were first introduced in the country by the former railway minister Mamatha Banerjee in the year 2010-2011.
