In Kerala income limitation for qualifying the government educational aid to students studying in plus one and above including professional courses is increased as Rs. 1 Lakh. Chief minister Umman Chandy and Finance minister K. M. Mani have signed the order regarding this. It was in the year 2001 that the income limitation for the educational assistance was increased previously.
Currently, the income limitations for the aid to higher secondary education is Rs. 20,000/, to bachelor degree courses Rs. 25000/ whereas to post graduate and professional courses the limitation is Rs. 42000/. As per the new order all such income limitations are made uniform by bringing the maximum income limitation to Rs. Lakh. This educational aid is also available to poor students belonging to forward casts in the society.
