Counting of votes for the 40-member Mizoram Assembly Congress led in nine of the 11 seats in Mizoram Assembly began on Monday. Mizoram Democratic Alliance led in two seats. Congress candidate John Siamkunga declared elected from South Tuipui defeating his nearest rival, J Lalchhuana of Zoram Nationalist Party (ZNP).

The results would decide the fate of 142 candidates. The results would reveal if four-time Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla faced anti-incumbency this time.
