Washington: US president Barack Obama said that the globally notorious Jail called the ‘Guantanamo Bay’ will be closed by this year. The US president was felicitating during the annual day of the State of Union.
During the speech Obama said that he would no more concentrate to increase the military powers of the nation. The Guantanamo Bay is at the US naval base in Cuba. Obama had promised the closure of this notorious Jail about five years before.
Currently there are 155 prisoners in the Guantanamo jail. They were accused of being responsible for the World Trade Center attack which was occurred on Sept 11, 2001. The accused were jailed without conducting any prior trial.
Last year the Us Congress had demanded to handover the prisoners to their respective nations.
