Gunday is a Hindi action film written and directed by Ali Abbas Zafar while the producer is Aditya Chopra. In this action movie, Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor are acting in leading roles while Priyanka Chopra and Irrfan Khan come in supporting roles. The shooting of the film is carried out in Kolkata and some parts of Durgapur and Raniganj. The story of the film is based on the lives of two small time thieves who later get involved in the coal mafia.

The Gunday movie will also be released in Bengali with composed Bengali songs. This will be the first Indian film to have its trailer premier in International Film Festival at Dubai. In this movie Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor play as gangsters by the name of Bikram and Bala respectively.  Earlier there were rumors regarding the participation of Katrina Kaif in the movie. But the Director wanted Prianka Chopra to act in the leading actress role. Ali Zafar has made a reference about the appearance of the leading actors as Bengalis in the movie. Both Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor were acted under YRF banner in Band Baaja Baaraat and Ishaqzaade respectively. They have been doing Physical fitness training to make themselves fit for the assigned roles.

Earlier the movie was shot in Mumbai at Yash Raj Studio while the long schedule in Kolkata. Actor Ranveer Singh was injured while shooting his fall from height. Immediately he was rushed to the nearest hospital. During the Kolkata schedule of the movie some old native professionals were hired to create a set of Durga Puja song sequence under the Howrah Bridge.  As far as the movie is concerned it was inevitable to bring a relialistic look of 1980’s to those scenes. In this film, Bappi Lahiri is found working with Yash Raj films for the first time.
