Santiago: Socialist party leader Michelle Bachelet has been elected as the new president of Chili for the second time. In the second session of the election Bachelet had got 62% votes. Her rival was Evelyn Mathieu who is currently a minister in the ruling government. She was the president of the nation during the 2006- 2010 tenure. Moreover, she was the first woman president of Chili. Since no contestant had got more than 50% votes, the authorities were forced to abandon the first session of the election.
