New York: The Time Magazine has chosen Pope Francis as the ‘time person of the year’. This is as per the judgment taken by a panel of time magazine editorial staff. The other four contestants in the final round were NSA leaker Edward Snowden, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, Texas senator Ted Cruz and gay rights activist Edith Windsor. He is the third Pope who has been chosen by the time magazine as the ‘time person of the year’. Previously, Pope John Paul II was chosen in 1994 whereas Pope John XXIII in 1962.
