Sea killing: Home ministry seeks legal advice

New Delhi: Regarding sea killing, the home ministry in India is seeking legal advice from law ministry.

Earlier Italy had expressed their great concern over the trial of marines with respect to global act ‘SUVA’.

SUVA is the presentation of unlawful acts against safety of maritime navigation and fixed platforms on continental shelf act of 2002.

This is an international agreement which was designed and signed in the year 1998. India is one of the 161 members who have signed in the treaty.

According to this agreement, death sentence is the punishment for sea killings as well as terrorism in the sea.

Now the home ministry wants to know whether there are provisions to conduct the trials on sea killing not according to the rules and regulations which fall under SUVA.
