New York: Congress Chairperson Sonia Gandhi may approach US court to withdraw charges existing against her in the nation. The charges filed by an organization called ‘Sikh for justice’ was on account of the ethnic riot occurred against the Sikh group during 1984. According to the organization, the ethnic riot was the result of human rights violation. Sonia may also demand US court to reject the existing petition against her.
Advocate Ravi Batra who belongs to India has been authorized to do the needful in the court on behalf of Sonia Gandhi. On February 14 th , 2014 he will be submitting a petition in the US court with respect to the aforesaid demands of Sonia Gandhi. According to Ravi Batra, Sonia was not involved in this ethnic riot. He said that the intention of filing charges against the Congress party and its Chair person were to grab attention from the public and also to get popularity. He has already submitted a letter from Sonia Gandhi stating her inconveniences to attend the court trial.
The ethnic riot against the Sikhs in 1984 was on account of the assassination of the former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
