' Thingyan ' celebrated by people of Myanmar


Rangoon: The Buddhist new year celebrations called ‘Thingyan’ 2014 is celebrated in Myanmar. This was an absolutely mesmerizing water festivals which conducted for a duration of 4 days from 13th April to 16th April. The festival having special features could render great fun to both spectators and participants. Apart from Myanmar the uninhibited celebrations can also be found in Thailand. The recent water festival organized in Myanmar is considered as the biggest Buddhist celebrations in the world. In Myanmar, the festival was traditionally celebrated by gently sprinkling water with branches of Eugenia leaves to cool people down and gradually evolved into water fights using powerful hoses in association with dancing in the street.
