Colombo: Avurudu Avurudu, the enchanting cultural festival in Srilanka will be celebrated on 6th April 2014. The celebration mainly recalls the experience of yesteryears tradition and at the same time provides awareness to the generation of today. Folk singing, cultural programs and traditional dancing are the outstanding features of this celebrations. This festival highlights the agricultural tradition as well as the heritage of Srilanka to a considerable extent. The festival is commemorated as part of the Srilankan new year celebrations. The Sinhalese Buddhist and Tamil Hindus in Sri Lanka are seen jointly celebrating the auspicious occasion.
The festival days are national holidays for the Island nation. This traditional cultural festival is very unique as it is not celebrated elsewhere in the world. Nowadays, tourists from all over the world visit Sri Lanka during this period.
