Seattle: A man living in western Seattle is said to have burnt his own house in an attempt to kill a spider using spray paint and a lighter.
According to the Fire crew, the man’s unusual method to destroy the spider caused a wall to catch fire, which quickly spread through the house.
However, the fire crew managed to put out the blaze in the house. But within that time-frame it had caused a damage of worth $60,000.
When asked about the cause of the fire, the man living at the property told officials that he was trying to kill a spider in his laundry room using spray paint and a lighter.
One of the local broadcasters Kiro7 reported that the wall had caught fire before the blaze was spreading through the house.
Neighbors were asked to return to their respective houses for enabling the fire crew to investigate reports on ammunition in the house which ruled out later.
The Red Cross is said to be supporting the man who can no longer live in that house since it requires a major repair.
