Thiruvananthapuram: The Congress unit in Kerala was under shock on Sunday by the loss suffered by the party in Rajasthan and Delhi. Moreover their performance in Madhya Pradesh was so poor.
In Chhattisgarh state where counting of votes was under progress, the contest between the Congress and the ruling BJP was more or less similar.
However the ruling Congress in Kerala had something to console because the main opposition in the state, the CPI-M, had gained nothing from the four state elections where votes were counted on Sunday.
The Congress suffered massive loss in Rajasthan, and was not in a position to offer a tough contest to the BJP government in Madhya Pradesh. They also faced a defeat in Delhi, where even Sheila Dikshit, three-time chief minister, lost in the New Delhi assembly constituency.
At the same time the Congress is in a tough competition in Chhattisgarh.
