New Delhi: The World Health Organization (WHO) has recently warned that the consumption of Tobacco would cause inevitable death among women. If such habits cannot be brought under control, the death of 23 Lakhs women would be reported by the year 2030. Among them, 75% would be from middle class as well as economically weaker sections. Since the activities of women in the world are highly developed, the current target of the global Tobacco business is women. According to WHO unless emergency measures are implemented worldwide, the death toll may go up to 80 Lakhs by the year 2030.
Consumption of tobacco among women may lead to infertility. Continuation of such habits during pregnancy may cause early delivery, infant death and shortage of breast milk. Moreover, the relationship between Tobacco consumption and breast cancer are well approved. Thus, the World Health Organization has arranged a campaign to make people aware about the virulent effects of tobacco consumption. According to the Regional Director of WHO Dr. Samly Pliansang, this campaign has valuable significance for controlling the tobacco consumption among women.
