Thiruvananthapuram: An average of 16 per cent polling was recorded in Kerala during the first two hours which began at 7’O clock this morning. Long queues of voters were found in urban as well as rural areas of the state. The polling for the 20 Lok Sabha constituencies’ in the state have been taking place in a peaceful manner.
According to Election Commission, 6.9 per cent voter turn out was recorded in the first hour itself.
A total of 21,424 polling stations are arranged for 2.42 crore electorate in the state. This is a reputation for high voter turnout in the past elections.
Contestants and leaders of various political parties were among the early voters in different constituencies, especially in the state capital.
