Tripoli: ISIS in Libya is reported to have burnt western musical instruments, which according to them are Un-Islamic.
They have released pictures of armed fighters burning them as the extremist group has been continuing their propaganda assault in the north African country.
As per the pictures, heavily armed masked militants in the Libyan Desert were watching the burning of drums and other musical instruments.
It is understood that the brightly colored instruments had been seized by the religious police, and destroyed near the port city of Derna, in eastern Libya.
A message released together with the pictures said that Hesbah seized these un-Islamic musical instruments in the state of Warqa (the city of Derna).
It also added that they were burnt in accordance with the Islamic law.
This act of ISIS has generated some public argument in the Islamic world.
But Libya’s ISIS recruits are not the first to burn musical instruments in the name of Islam.
Earlier this year, the religious police had filmed an event of beating musicians and destroying musical instruments as punishment for playing ‘un-Islamic’ devices.
These latest pictures from Libya are the latest ‘propaganda’ operations being released by the country’s local branch of ISIS.
The extremist group has taken control of four major cities along Libyia’s coast, together with the force groups formed after the fall of Gadafi.
Meanwhile, Libya’s internationally recognized government is reported to have fled to Tubruq, near the Egyptian border which is about two-and-a-half hour drive from where the instruments were supposedly burned.
