Durban: South African star all-rounder Jack Kallis announced his retirement from Test Cricket. He said that the current Durban Test against India would be his last Test match. His retirement is only from Test cricket and First class matches. But in one day cricket, he will be playing actively till 2015 world cup. In Test cricket he has played for his nation for the last eighteen years.
Jack Kallis is considered as the ever best all rounder in Test cricket. From the 165 test matches played, he has scored 13174 runs and captured 292 wickets. Jack Kallis who has scored 44 test centuries is just behind Sachin Tendulkar who has scored 51 test centuries. In test cricket he has made 58 fifties. His average run rate is 55.12. In test cricket three players have scored more runs than Jack Kallis. They are Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponding and Rahul Dravid. In Test matches he has made 199 catches and stands on the second position. Highest number of catches in test cricket is in the name of Rahul Dravid. All the aforesaid record holders are already retired from the Test Cricket.
