Miami(United States): Miss Malaysia Universe 2014 Sabrina Beneett is reported to have appeared in the costume of the Goddess Kenyalang.
In that costume and with a smile in her face she arrived at the venue to impress the judges of the 63rd Miss Universe Pageant held at the city of Doral in Miami, United States.
These interesting costumes were designed by considering the traditional and conventional concepts and thus enabled Adila Long to collect a rather interesting theme ‘The Goddess of Kenyalang’ (Hornbill Goddess) as the national costume.
The accessories that accompanied the costume are faux feathers and jewelery.
The faux feathers were to imitate the hiding of the bird whereas the jewelery were to glorify Iban and Kayan warriors during war or ceremony rituals.
The Hornbill is a symbol of worship to the ethnic groups of Kayan and Iban and it is believed to be a messenger of the Gods for setting up warriors for the fight in the battlefields.
The bird is admired for its trueness, rareness and royalty, and represents power as well as intelligence.
The Miss Universe 2015 preliminary competition was held recently where the audience received a glimpse of the coronation night.
The gathering of beauties impressed the judges in their representation in swim-wear and evening gown.
