Sao Paulo: A metro strike in Brazil’s biggest city Sao Paulo which entered its fifth day has become the nightmare of the opening ceremony of the World Cup Football Tournament which proposed to organize on Thursday. The leaders of the striking Union threatened that they would shut down the subway line leading to the stadium where the first World Cup game of the tournament is going to take place.
Even though the forthcoming tournament is dissolved in the blood of Brazilians the workers in Sao Paulo have decided to remain on strike for an indefinite period. Recently, the Sao Paulo court has ruled the strike as illegal.
The city’s Regional Labor Court yesterday said that unions have violated strike rules by not providing a minimum level of service to the public.
The World Cup tournament hosting by Brazil is hoped to be a golden chance for the Latin American country to shine on the international stage.
