Manila(Philippines): US government has now decided to withdraw their task force who have been serving in Philippines for more than a decade.
The main duty of the American Force was to help the Philippine government who has been facing tremendous threats from Islamic militants.
The United States is now calling back their anti-terror contingent comprising of hundreds of elite American troops who have succeeded in controlling the activities of armed militant groups of Abu Sayyaf.
But, it is said that smaller numbers of the Special Armed Forces belong to the U.S. Pacific Command will remain in the country, even after the deactivation of the Joint Task Force.
The presence of US military in the Philippines has also helped to contain the activities of Al-Qaida militants as well as the Indonesia-based Jemaah Islamiyah.
Meanwhile the military officials of US and Philippines said that they did not want the terrorists to regain their lost grounds in the country.
The US task force was established in Philippines, following the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks in the US.
Their intention was to help the ill-equipped Filipino forces to contain the bloody rampages organized by the Abu Sayyaf gunmen.
The terrorist groups in Philippines had carried out bombings and terrorized the entire towns by kidnapping more than 100 people, including three Americans.
