United Kingdom: Scientists have discovered that the brain of human beings would be in active mode while they are asleep. They have also found out that while sleeping, people can classify even words.
Researchers from Cambridge and Paris subjected participants to a word test when they were awake and found that they can respond correctly even while sleeping.
Using an electroencephalogram (EEG), they recorded participants brain activity.
For this purpose, they were asked to classify spoken words as either animals or objects by pressing a button.
According to them the sleeping brain can perform complex tasks which are particularly automated.
Writing in the journal ‘Current Biology’, the research team have set out to study the brain’s behavior while awake as well as during asleep.
Further research will be focusing on how to take advantages out of human beings sleeping time.
